We all know that over the Holiday season you are going to have a period of time where the best food you eat is the fruitcake. At some point you are going to need your body to actually bounce back and look like you take care of your body and that is going to be a lot easier if you actually take care of it. Especially if you plan on indulging in Uncle Bob’s famous alcohlic eggnog.

2. Take time to relax- With all the running around and preparing that goes into the holidays it’s easy to forget to take some time to wind down and relax. Relaxing could be a warm bath or a nice long nap but what’s important is to allow yourself time to work the stress out of all the bones and muscles and replenish the body of any fatigue.

3. Limit time in the elements- Whether it’s making a snow-man with family or learning to surf with the locals, limiting the amount of time in the elements will greatly reduce the risk of a flare-up. Being aware of the way the body is affected by prolonged exposure to sun and cold-weather will help to ensure a healthier holiday season.

4. Have fun!- The most important thing to do this holdiday season is to have fun! There is no better way to lift the mind and spirit, melt stress away, and improve the quality of life then to enjoy family and friends this holiday season.

Ways to stay fit during the Holiday season

One of the best parts of the holiday season is all of the seasonal dishes and food families prepare. But if you’re looking to lose weight, the holiday season can seem an impossible obstacle. However, if you keep in mind just a few healthy tips, the holiday season can be just as enjoyable, and you can lose weight as well! First, set up a weight loss plan if you haven’t already.
Create a weight loss chart and keep a positive goal in mind for each week. When you complete said goal(i.e. losing so many lbs per week, or exercising for a full hour)reward yourself with something you’ve had your eye on at the store, or even a holiday treat! Stick to your chart and your goal, and stay positive that you can complete it. Second, Plan all your work-outs ahead of time! During the holidays schedules may get more and more crazy with family and friends stopping by, so schedule just what part of the day and when you’re going to exercises.
Third, Don’t be discouraged or tell yourself that you can’t have certain holiday foods because of your diet. Instead of skipping the meal all-together(which makes you more liable to blow your diet chart) decrease the amount that you would usually have, smaller portions are just as rewarding as a big heaping plate. If you fall off the wagon, don’t immediately give up and say “forget about it.”
Get right back into your routine and know that it’s okay to have a cheat day every so often. Fourthly, Keep your eating schedule the same. Eating at the same time each day gives you less time to think about being hungry and sneaking a snack. Your tummy will get used to eating at certain times of the day, and will behave itself more.Lastly, don’t let others discourage you! You have to believe in yourself and your goal in order to succeed.
